Muş Alparslan University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Sociology first started accepting students with an additional quota in the 2011-2012 academic year. The Department of Sociology, which accepted 70 students for primary and secondary education in the 2011-2012 academic year, had its first graduates in 2015 with a total of 69 students. The department of sociology still continues its education with two associate professors, two doctoral faculty members and two research assistants.
The main purpose of the sociology department is to provide students with the discipline of sociological thinking theoretically and practically. In addition, it is to train well-equipped students in the field of sociology by teaching the basic subjects of sociology such as social structure, social institutions, basic concepts and theories of society, social relations. In this perspective, graduates are sociologist at various institutions and levels; To ensure that they are individuals who are equipped to work as a Philosophy Group Teacher in the Ministry of National Education and Various Private Educational Institutions, along with formation education.
The vision of the department is to assimilate the existing knowledge of the field of Sociology, to follow the current developments, to provide the documentation of foreign works and to include them in the course content, to present qualified scientific works, to compare the findings obtained by considering an interdisciplinary approach, to analyze the theories and methodological connections that are important for sociology and is the submission.
